Actually, I did no such thing. The old card is sitting in my purse, where it always is. You wrote to me to tell me that you were cancelling the card because one of your business partners had compromised my details.

Do try to get it right...

Dear BankCo, when you call me to tell me that my card was used at a Fuel Depot, and did I use it, please ensure that the purchase was not, in fact, from a fuel depot, rather than a 3G modem, otherwise I say "no, I didn't" and you cancel my card...

Then their company would have to accept responsibility for making a mistake, and they apparently don't want to do that, so they sent a letter that blames you instead. Did they apologize when the business partner compromised the details originally?

Actually, yes they did. That's why I knew they were sending a replacement.

Thankfully it's not the one I use online (iTunes, etc.), which is with the same company, otherwise it'd have been a complete PITA to go round reregistering it with everyone.

It's probably just the standard form letter for a replacement credit card. Kinda amusing though.
