I haven't had the "pleasure" of needing to communicate with them since the whole Toiletgate affiar, but my understanding is that their response is mostly to shrug a bit.

AIUI, there is no official trans strand/representation at all this year. Their solution to trans people being repeatedly shat on by their event seems to be to ignore us and hope that we will go away.

I plan to give them what they seem to want.

To be fair, Sheffield pride had a lot of white middle-class lesbians. Most of whom looked at me like they wished I wasn't there.

To be fair to the lesbians, the gay men also looked at me like they wished I wasn't there.

A trans man friend who was also there was overjoyed, because he was being checked out by (people he perceived as) both gay men and lesbians.

I'd expound my current theory to explain this, but I don't really have one. I'm just confused and grumpy. I might just have to date bi/pan people exclusively.

I have to say that I entirely agree with you. I was having my hair done in Town yesterday and chatting to one of the girls who works in the salon who happens to be lesbian and who isn't going to Pride either. Her reasons for not going to Pride were her distaste at the treatment of trans people (she has a transwoman friend) so the message may be starting to get through where it really matters.

She's also had grief from the so called 'community' because she 'lives with a straight guy' (actually a friend- they share a flat 'cos it's cheaper in London that way and it works for both of them- there's nothing sexual at all.

Sigh :o(

It's entirely possible they have learned from their mistakes and taken steps to ensure it won't happen again. However, given their public face on this issue seemed to be largely one ot indifference, I have no confidence in that.
