Imagine my delight when I see this turn up in my inbox this Sunday lunchtime:



How truly nice it is to be wanted, but I have no idea why the sudden interest. The S'onewall awards are coming up soon and perhaps they've nominated her for one of their awards for services to canapés again. We don't actually know as they've decided not to publish the list of nominees this year, which was probably easier than going to all the trouble of adopting some sort of pesky anti-transphobia stance in public.

As for the 3 mutual friends, at least two of them are trans activists of my personal acquaintance, presumably keeping tabs on her or something - whatever, *clickety click*. There - ignored.

I had her on my friends list to keep tabs on her, until her recent status update about "being a duck" ("Julie Bindel has decided she is now a duck and demands to be put in the duckpond regardless of the fact she has raped and killed ducks" - a supposedly-humorous take on the recent trans woman who won the right to be housed in a women's prison) and then I couldn't take any more so she went buh-bye.

When I signed up for facebook recently, double clicked on an okay button. But it's so quick that it loaded up another question -- email everyone in your contacts list a friends request? -- and counted that as a confirmation on that as well.

So facebook sent out friends requests to every email address I had ever emailed. Including listserves, tech support, ex's I'm not on good terms with, alternate email addresses for myself, and old activist rivals I had had email exchanges with. I was kicking myself when someone I actually have not forgiven friended me back and proceeded to act like everything was a thing of the past.

Perhaps the same kind of thing happened to her.
