sure, i'm not saying it doesn't happen, but that i've never been witness to it in my RL communities over the last decade (more particularly the last 4 years when i've been in closer contact). and, you know, i'd rather accept one 'radikewl' person who later admits they were doing it for slightly dodgy reasons, than reject one trans person because i thought they were just 'seeking attention' or whatever.

but i also acknowledge that my experience has been in one corner of the globe, and it's bound to be different elsewhere.
