Mating Rituals?

zoeimogen, the_local_echo and myself walking back from the cinema after seeing a showing of "The Happening" by M Night Shyamalalalan (who seems to be getting weirder).
Anyway, as we walked over Hills Road bridge, over the railway line (half of which is closed for ages and ages and has a big pile driver parked on it to build the misguided bus (it's what you get when you combine all the worst features of a bus and a train, and the benefits of neither), an SUV thing came past with a bunch of youngish blokes in it. Seeing three women walking together, one of them leaned out of the window and made a loud grunting noise/war cry thingy.
Why do they do that?
