Well, I suppose you could have said as she was going in that it was going up and pointed out that she probably wanted the other one. But that's like talking to someone on the tube: overly invasive of their space. And you weren't to know she was having a very bad day/isn't a particularly nice person. Sounds like she'd have had a huff if you told her as well.
